Math Glossary

I speak math every day in my class. Learning  the language of math can be frustrating for some people. Here is a solution.

MathTerms

By Andy Felong

MathTerms is an illustrated glossary of mathematics terms in English and Spanish. The app includes almost 1,000 entries for middle- and high-school mathematical concepts. Millions of students have had access to this glossary, and its colorful, annotated illustrations, for over the past five years. It is now available as an iPad application.

I hope to see this as an iPhone app soon!

Apollonius Software

Apollonius by Adolfo Rodriguez is an Interactive Geometry Software (IGS, or Dynamic Geometry Environment, DGE) for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It allows you to make geometric constructions (such as those made using a compass and straightedge/ruler) and move their parts smoothly using the device's touchscreen.

Integers!

Integers pose a huge problem for middle school and high school students. Here are two great APPs to help you conquer integers.

Interactive Integers - Addition and Subtraction
By TicTapTech, LLC

This app provides two fun interactive methods for learning and understanding addition and subtraction of positive and negative numbers. The color tile model and number line model are two of the most common classroom methods for teaching integers. These methods help students visually understand integer concepts instead of relying only on memorization of rules.

Math Practice - Integers - Addition Subtraction Multiplication & Division
By TicTapTech, LLC

This app's core concept was to create a flexible tool that could be used by beginners and could also be used as a refresher for middle and high school students. Even adults could use this app to challenge their brain.
